How DIY Solar Works
When you order a DIY Solar Kit from Practical Preppers®, you’re not just buying equipment—you’re partnering with a team that’s been designing and installing solar for over a decade. Every kit is engineered to work from day one, backed with support, drawings, and logistics to make the process straightforward.
Here’s how it works:
- Buy Your Kit – After purchase, our team follows up with you to confirm details, finalize your layout, and arrange shipping logistics.
- Receive Your Materials – Your system will arrive carefully packaged with clear instructions. Some deliveries will require equipment (like a forklift) for unloading.
- Install with Confidence – We recommend using a licensed electrician for the electrical work, while you or your contractor handle assembly. Our team is available to support you and your electrician every step of the way.
Required Options
- 100A Bypass (On-grid / Off-grid / None): If your solar system ever fails or needs service, a bypass lets you still power your home from another source, either the grid or a generator.
- 100A Disconnect (Fusible / Non-fusible / None): A disconnect is required by the utility and the NEC for grid-tied systems. A non-fusible disconnect is only allowed if there is overcurrent protection somewhere between the grid source and the inverter. If you’re not sure, choose fusible. “No disconnect” is for off-grid systems only.
- 24-Panel Ground Mount (Seasonal adjust / Fixed): Seasonal-adjust mounts let you change the tilt through the year for more production. Fixed mounts are simpler and cost less.

This kit ships via hotshot freight directly to your site. Freight is priced by your destination (state/ZIP) and shown at checkout. Deliveries may require a forklift or tractor for unloading.
