“There were several factors that led me to start looking into rain harvesting techniques but the main one was because of my experience in seeing the static water level or water table dropping in wells. For the past 4 years, I have been installing backup hand pumps in hundreds of wells and the unique thing about that is that knowing the static water level was the number one factor I used in sizing a pump for the homeowner, prepper, survivalist or farmer. I ran into wells that were once sitting at a 40ft level and were now at 80 or more. The unsuspecting homeowner didn’t know or care as their submersible pumps were installed hundreds of feet below the static and they seem to never run out but all the while the water table was dropping.”
