Off Grid Solar in a Cold Climate

off grid solar in snow

Customer Goal: Have an off-grid home solar system that will uphold in a cold, snowy climate

This remote home in Michigan won’t see a power line for miles! It was very important for this family to have a reliable off-grid power system that would uphold even in the extreme snowy conditions that Michigan can get. We designed and installed an off-grid solar system featuring a battery and generator back-up. The auto generator start function on the Sol-Ark 12k inverter allows the solar, batteries and generator to work together seamlessly; so the batteries will primarily be charged by solar, and secondarily by the Cummins generator according to user-set conditions. This system also features a bypass that will allow the whole home to be powered by the Cummins Generator in case the solar components stop working for any reason. We are happy and confident that this home will keep the family warm and the lights on no matter what’s going on outside! Watch our video below for full details!
